Croatian "Sport for All" Federation

Croatian "Sport for All" Federation is a uccessor of Union for sport recreation "Partisan" of Croatia, established in 1951. After achieving of Croatian independency in 1991 "Partisan" of Croatia separates from its former umbrella organization, "Partisan" of Yugoslavia, changes its name, adopts new Statutes and elects new management.

Newly established Croatian Union for Sport Recreation becomes a member of Croatian Olympic Committee, and is admitted to TAFISA, the world association of "Sport for all" movements, to European Federation for Company Sport (EFCS), and is a co-founder and a member of European Confederation Sport and Health (CESS).

Croatian "Sport for All" Federation (HSSR) is Croatian umbrella organization of associatians, societies and u n ions of sport recreation. The Union is the actuator and organizer of a number of activities and manifestations on a Republic level, which have become traditional in the course of years. Women March Meetings, Croatian Festival of Sport Recreation, Festival of Recreational Bowling, Festival of Table Tennis, festival of Recreational Bicycling, festival of Sport Recreation for Elderly Persons, Festival of Sport Recreation for Women, TREF - European Festival of Recreational Tennis, Festival of Rural Sport Recreation.

ln cooperation with Croatian Olympic Academy, the Union through courses conducts additional education of amateur officials (both leaders and organizers) for needs of sport recreation organizations. The course graduates through this education gain the additional vocation. The Union also organizes a number of events for professionals. Every two years, the Union organizes Counseling for Swimming Coaches, and a Seminar of Sport Recreation Kinesiology. The Union annually participates in the Summer Kinesiology School, particularly in the Sport Recreation Workshop.

The Union publishes a quarterly magazine "Sport for all" covering professional and organizational issues, in 700 to 1.000 copies. The magazine was established in 1980 as "Partisan Today", and continues as "Sport for all" since 1995. It covers contemporary vocational themes and reviews all important activities within organization on the whole territory of Croatia.

Standing members hold the unique, annually renewable Member's Card, which electronically contains all relevant information on its holder.
Activities of the Union and its affiliated organizations annually include about 450.000 participants,ar some 10% of total population. This number is still too small, comparing to the developed countries. Our goal is to increase the number of participants to at least 20% of total population. In order to achieve this gaal, some acute problems need to be solved first. They include financing, building, and equipping sport facilities and courts (leisure time centers), used for sport recreation, as well as increasing the number of professionals and amateurs employed in the organization.

Croatian "Sport for All" Federation is hosting and organizing the 17th European Company Sport Games in Rovinj in 2009, and is already fully engaged in preparations for this large international manifestation.
