CROATIA

Croatia is a young, independent, democratic and parliamentary country with a long history and tradition. It is situated on the Adriatic Sea, where the Mediterranean came closest to Central Europe, and all way to Danube to the east of the country.
Croatia has a population 4.5 million on an area covering 56.542 km2. Zagreb is the capital city and the population is mostly Roman Catholic.

Croatia is abundant in natural beauties - the rather small territory has 8 national parks, numerous protected landscapes and park forests. The most famous among them is surely Plitvička jezera (Plitvice Lakes) National Park, included in UNESCO’s world heritage list. Croatia is a country of a thousand islands, or 1,185 to be precise, thus representing a veritable paradise for navigators.

The cultural heritage is extremely rich, reflecting the stormy history of the peoples in this region. Everybody has heard of Dubrovnik, Split, Rovinj… UNESCO’s list of world heritage includes: Euphrasius Basilica in Poreč, Palace of Diocletian in Split, towns of Dubrovnik and Trogir, and the Šibenik Cathedral.

Croatia is a country of contrasts: natural, cultural and historical. This is all the more reason for you to learn about it and spend an unforgettable holiday on the Mediterranean as it was once was.
